Hi All,
I have a problem with IE6/Win98SE
I can get online to a website very quickly but if I click a link to another
page/site it takes a good 2 minutes to complete the operation and when it
does complete it shuts down IE.
Can anyone help please
Thanks in advance

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827315

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in
conjuction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on
its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22,
http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30, or another appropriate forum for review
by an expert in such matters, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.

Thanks PA Bear
In fact it is my Granddaughter's computer and she is very much a novice, so
I'll get her to take the last option.
Thank you

I'll give you two other options:

1. Next time you visit her: Uninstall IE6 SP1 | Format the HDD & Reinstall
Win98 | Manually reinstall IE6 SP1 | Get the machine fully patched at
Windows Update.

2. The holidays are just around the corner: Why not treat Grandma to a new
WinXP Home PC? You can find a low-end machine that would certainly suit her
needs for under US$400. Maybe all her grandkids could chip in?
