I know of three causes for the vast majority of such problems:
1. Incompatible add-ons: What if you right click the IE icon on the desktop
and choose Start Without Add-ons?
Or go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
Explorer (No Add-ons).

2. Tools | Internet Options | Advanced
Scroll to the bottom and click Reset Internet Explorer Settings.

3. Malware already installed on the computer: Help with malware
All MS-MVP Sites.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Thank you or the suggestions, but I am still experiencing the same problem.
Also, the only add-ons I have are ones that came installed and I can not
delete. I have not installed any additional add-ons. Any other ideas?

What make of computer?
Did you try Start Without Add-ons?
Which site did you post your HijackThis log to (don't post it here)?
Can you give a link to it?

I have been running IE without add-ons ( I reset Internet Explorer Settings)
for over a week now and I am still experiencing the same problem! IE stops
responding randomly, screen fades, and if I click anything I get the pop-up
box "IE is not responding..." SOmetimes it just closes on it's own and I get
the task bar bubble saying "IE stopped working, " or "Device manager has
closed IE..."

I don't have a Hijackthis log. WHat is a Hijackthis log?

Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these
Web pages. They will tell you how to make and post a HijackThis log.
