IE7 crashes Windows XP

IE7 - crasher: Having had a couple of PC-crashes through the last 15 years, I
am wary about what I put on my new PC. However, I did not at all expect,
after several months availabilty, to have IE7 wipe out my PC! HP desktop, new
this summer, yet even the built-in recovery program was non-responsive...
This all happened after seemingly successful IE7 installation - only the
reboot was left! Upon reboot, the PC totally hung. The recovery DVD did
manage to get it up again, sort of - slow, and all my settings gone, all of
Office gone incl. all my email-accounts and all those tiresome settings. Why,
Microsoft, WHY? Your new product, into "seamless windows" - and a wipe-out is
the result!!! I use my PC for 0 games - it is all work, documents, etc. The
hours ahead of me now, to put everything back, makes me hate Microsoft - and
think I should do as afriend tells me: go to Linux... Another swears to
Macs... I've been "chicken" and stuck with Microsoft, but it is such a drag.
WHY???
