IE7 in protected mode doesn't work

I have Vista 64-bit Home Premium installed and I realized that IE wasn't
loading any pages. I can go to any site it seems and nothing loads. If I
put something new in the address bar, the tab will change to "connecting" and
then it puts the address from my start page in, but nothing happens.

I've tried clicking tools > Manage add ons > enable or disable add ons, and
nothing happens. I've tried deleting all the browsing history, and have
tried the reset button under advanced, and that didn't work.

I noticed however, if I shut off protected mode it works fine, and if I
right click and run as administrator it also works fine. (My account is an
administrator account). It worked fine a couple of days ago -- I'm not sure
what system changes have been made, but this is a new install, so updates
have been recently installed and a few software installs. I've tried
uninstalling the software, but that hasn't fixed it either. I'm stumped!

Any suggestions? It seems to be ALL sites that I've tried.

Try this reset option too .....

Control Panel > Internet Options > Security > Reset all zones to default
level
