IE7 SCREWING UP MESSENGER

I primarily use messenger to get alerted when new email arrives. I installed
ie7 last night and since then, I'm not getting alerted with any sound when
mail arrives. It's checked in my options to play sound but no friggen
sound!!!! Whats the secret here? Anybody know? Thanks!

I've installed IE7 on several PCs, even yesterday and the new mail sound is working on each.
I know this sounds silly, but have you tried rebooting? Additionally, are the other sounds
all working?

Jonathan: Silly, you say? Neh.....you're talking to an ignoraumus here! I
did shut the computer off last evening, booted up this morning but when I
read your suggestion, tried booting and wha-la! It's working now!

Well, I only call it silly because it sounds rather untechnical although to be fair there are
some technical explanations behind it. I like to have more concrete answers and explanations
though.
