Hi,
1) Most likely cause of your problem is a plugin or addon for IE that was
recently installed. Under the Control Panel/Internet Options/Programs tab,
click 'manage addons' and disable those that are loading with IE.
2) Driver errors, sadly, are not Microsoft's problem but rather the device
manufacturer's problem. While Microsoft does write some small amount of
them, the vast majority offered to the user via the OS or Windows Update are
those that are supplied to Microsoft by a manufacturer. If they release an
update to fix an issue to Microsoft, then Microsoft can offer the solution
to you when a driver causes a crash. Otherwise not. The purpose of the error
collecting is to a) concentrate efforts on the most frequently reported
problems (and as I understand it driver issues are the overwhelming
majority) and b) watch for trends that may indicate software conflicts.
There are tens of thousands of these reports every day, and they are handled
by an automated system, not any individuals. The human element only reviews
the collated data, not individual problems. If a problem report matches via
error code and/or files involved to a known issue, then information or, if
available, a resolution is offered. If you want a technician to address a
single issue, you need to open a support incident (and this may or may not
involve a cost to you as Microsoft only offers limited free support to
retail versions of Windows).
