I downloaded IE7 as soon as it came out on my home computer and every time I
try to open a Internet short cut from my desktop IE6 open a blank page and
just sits there I have to open up task manager to close it and then IE7
starts. How can I stop this from happening.

dd,

I had this same issue. This question probably should have been posted in
the Internet Explorer Newsgroup. You might want to check there if you have
additional questions. Regarding your issue, I had thIS same problem. After
reading several posts, I found that an older version of Google Desktop causes
this issue. If you have Google Desktop loaded, find it listed under your
Programs, and do an Uninstall. Hopefully, this will take care of your issue.
The older version of Google Desktop is not compatible with IE7. You will
probable need to restart your computer once Google is unistalled. If you use
Google Desktop, you can download the latest versions which should be
compatible with IE7. GOOD LUCK!!

thanks Norb,

I do not use google toolbar and I went to add/remove and nothing was not
there so I did a search and there it is many google folders so I removed them
all and it looks like it did the trick. How easy was that now I can go to
work and hopefully it will that simple there. You have cured the pain in the
but for me.

dd,

I am so glad that my suggestion helped you out, and hopefully it might just
help out someone else. I am a firm believer that we can, and should try to
help out each other if possible. After all, if we use our computers
everyday, we can learn so much from each other just my coming to the
newsgroups with different questions and answers. Good luck for both of us
when we try to take care of our next issue, not even knowing at the present
time what it is going to be.

Well I guess I jumped the gun after leaving the earlier message I went to
check my e-mail and try using the short cut and the old IE6 raised its ugly
head. I also went out to the newsgroup and left a help message there. If
you have any more ideas I am willing to try.
