Is IE8 a High Priority Update?

Hi Everybody:
I just wonder why from 2 weeks ago now, inmediatedly after I turned on the
machine and logged in, the first thing that appears in the task bar is the
yellow shield from "Automatic Updates" indicating me that there are updates
ready to be installed...It didn't do it this way before.
When I go "Personalized Installing" to see what the updates are, it shows me
"Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP" ? as a high priority update? Why?
I unchecked the selection - not to be installed - and cancel/close the
window but it keeps still at the task bar (the yellow shield from Automatic
Updates) i.e. it is already downloaded to my system and just waiting to be
installed. This happens everyday. Does anyone knows about this ? and why IE8
shown as "High Priority Update at Automatic Updates from MicrosoftUpdate?
I'm using IE7 with no problem.

Would ask you to please further advise me on the cross-post issue because I
didn't get it very clear with the "cats" example on the page you shown.

Thanks PA Bear, the difference between "Multi and Cross" I did understood.
"How to" is what I didn't know because I didn't realize about the "Advanced
Options" feature, which I'll try later whenever needed again.
