IE8 or IE7???

is there a way to tell if i have IE-7-or8- I was reading in a windows guide
about
IE7 and how safe it was ,this is a new computer (2 months old) and user I
want to run it the best way--any and all infomation will be well heeded

Open IE and click on Help>About.

IE 8 is still under development. If your computer has Vista you are using
IE 7. To check the version click Help in the menu bar and then Click the
about item. If you don't see the menu bar go to tools and check the menu bar
option.

If you are not liking IE you can check out Opera or Firefox web browsers.

You have IE7. IE8 hasn't been released yet.

But in IE, and in almost any program, click Help | About to find out
what version it is.

Hmmm. I have IE8 on all my XP machines, 32 and 64-bit. Works okay and the
emulate IE7 mode fills in the problem areas well, so far. :-)

Do yourself a favor and download and use Firefox. It's faster and safer.

No you don't. You have a pre-release test version of IE8. It is not
IE8, which, as I said, hasn't been released yet.

right i was sent a download from windows to try IE8 but when i checked like i
was told its IE7 one gentelmen said firefox what about that or is there a
way to get IE8 back or is it possiable to Try Firefox and go back to IE7-8

Sorry, but IE8 is IE8 whether it is beta, RC or RTM. Don't recall anyone
saying anything about 'RTM' version. Microsoft has been pushing the beta in
lots of places.
