i and all of my friends have this problem.
ie8 with windows 7.
ie8 cant handle multiple pages or tabs...by this i mean....
when i have multiple ie windows OR tabs running, SOME of them suddenly seems
to NOT load but if i copy the address from the not responsive window or tab
and paste it into the original window, ie8 loads the page.
im not a computer idiot, so spare me the usual add-ons and av and malware
and spyware bs.
also on LOTS of sites (but never msn or other microsoft web pages /sites)
ie8 takes FOREVER to load a page if it loads at all. its most noticable with
facebook and new york times and filehippo and adobe to name a few. being
slow to load also doesnt happen ALL the time, but it happens all the time
with not responding with multiple tabs and / or multiple windows starting
with the 3rd tab or window. it clears up when i close ie and then open it
again, but then multiple "instances" (correct term?) cause the problem all
over again

I and all my friends don't have that problem.

Since you're unwilling to perform the troubleshooting ("...spare me the
usual add-ons and av and malware and spyware bs...") good luck to you.

Do you think Leonard is a mind reader? His reply was posted some EIGHT
minutes BEFORE you posted your second post.
Idiot.

Hi,
1. Have you tried a reset of IE settings? Have you cleared the Temporary
Internet Files? (Those weren't in the "spare me" list.)
2. Do you occasionally close *all* IE windows? Do you occasionally restart
the computer? (Many users depend on Sleep or Hibernate and try to avoid
shutdowns.)
3. If running 32-bit Win7, try downloading, unzipping and running
ie8-rereg.zip from
http://iefaq.info/index.php?action=a...133&artlang=en

If running 64-bit Win7, try the script/bat file by OnyXxl in this thread:

Hope this helps,
Don

i have tried EVERYTHING except ie8-rereg.zip.
i CONSTANTLY close ALL ie windows and even re-start windows more than once a
day...i do not permit sleep or hibernate and i even remove the hiber.fil by
doing the following:
Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
In the search results list, right-click Command Prompt or Cmd, and then
click Run as Administrator on the pop up contextual menu.
If you are prompted by User Account Control for permission, click Continue.
At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
powercfg.exe -h off

Type exit, and then press ENTER.

as i said...i am not a computer idiot even tho i admit to being far from a
computer expert, but i am the one everyone i know comes to to help solve
problems and this is the first time since windows millennium that i have
spent so much time trying to resolve an issue and so far havent resolved
anything.
thank you for the link, i am sure gonna go get that right now.
thank you so much Don for taking the time to read and be of help.

just in case anyone reads this thread, i guess one would need to know
also...this ie8 thing has been a problem for around a year now...giving me
PLENTY of time to try EVERYTHING over and over and over again, including
formatting the hard drive and re-installing windows all over again, and i
always have this problem from "day one" and its a problem for me on windows 7
beta...rc...rtm...and the retail version i actually bought as well as an
issue on friends computers running xp, xp pro and vista...so i am inclined to
say its an ie8 issue. the winxp computers and the windows vista computers
have 1.5 gigs of ram and the win7 computers have 3 gigs of ram.
this is why i came here with this problem and thank you to the 2 ppl who
tried to be of help, gordon and rob, thank you so much.
