IE8 Required for upgrade to W-7?

(Running Vista Ultimate 64-bit, SP-2, IE-7, classic mode.)

I have not downloaded and installed IE-8. Does anyone here
know if I'll have to do that in order to upgrade to W-7 when
it is available?

Hi,

No, you don't have to install IE8 prior to upgrading to Win7, however once
you do IE8 will be the base-level version of IE (you can't use versions 7
and lower)
