IE8 slow to open ...

Ever since upgrading to IE8 the browser is very slow to open. It takes
anywhere from 25 to 45 seconds to open IE8. Browser links from emails take
even longer. The machine is a WinXP, sp3, SATA drive, 3.0Ghz with 4GB of RAM
(3.6GB recognized by WinXP), and is fully updated, patched, defragged, and
spyware free. IE8 is the only program that is slow to respond, and IE7 just
minutes before the upgrade was responsive.

Is there anything that can be done (eg config settings, etc...) that can
make IE8 more responsive and quicker to open ? Its a bit annoying when one
is busy at work and they have to wait close to a minute for a browser window
to open. Other browsers, including IE7, were much more responsive when
starting.

TIA ...

Hello,

Try running IE8 with add-ons disabled.

Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No
Add-ons) to start IE8 without any add-ons. Try using the browser and see if
the same problem arises.

If the problem does not occur again, start IE8 normally, go to Tools (if the
menu bar does not appear, hit the Alt key on the keyboard) > Manage Add-ons.
Disable all the add-ons under 'Toolbars and Extensions'. Enable each add-on
one at each time and see if the problem occurs again. Once it occurs again
after enabling an add-on, you have nailed the culprit.

If you are not even able to start IE8 normally, go to Start > Control Panel
> Internet Options > Programs, Manage add-ons and you can disable all the

add-ons manually there.

One possibility would be spyware connecting to its server first.
