Hey all.

When I leave my computer on over night, the screens will go blank and not
come back on. The HD is still running, all the fans are going, but the
monitors will not turn back on. I try every button on my keyboard, even try
mashing it, and nothing happens. I disabled all power saving utilities and
that didn't help.

Whats happening here? How can I stop it. Is there some kind of button
combination to get my computer back up and running agian?

Im running vista ultimate.

Vista requires you to press the hardware power button briefly to wake from
Sleep or Hibernation. There is nothing wrong with your computer.

Yeah. I've tried that, and nothing happens.

If I remember the original post correctly (I don't have it in front of me),
one thing that occurred to me was that maybe the issue is with a monitor
setting, not with a general Windows setting.

If I recall, you said you have Vista set up so that it will never go to
sleep. However, your monitor is turning off. So it could be that the monitor
is set to turn off if there's no activity for a certain period of time. So
while it may LOOK like Windows is sleeping, it is in fact still on full
power. But your monitor has gone to sleep.

I'm not going to go into how your monitor setting can be changed because
that probably relies a lot on the specific monitor you have, etc. And I'm
not as familiar with how it's done in Vista as I was with XP.

Anyway, try that one on for size and see what you think.

No, sorry, but I have one machine that does it too. Do you have any
problem selecting "Shutdown" but the machine just accesses the drive,
goes quiet (but not off) and then can't be woken up?
