if I delete files in swdist\download...will they *come back*?

Someone was playing with policy, and set the default to "automatically
download and then prompt for install". Thus, there are updates pending in the
\softwaredistribution\download folder. Since this happened, the policy got
changed to "prompt for download and prompt for install".

My question:
if I delete the updates in the folder, will they be "re-detected" by the
update service?

I'm not only trying to manage space on the machines, but also prefer to have
a look at the updates prior to the downloads. I don't need someone to get
frisky while doing a restart and decide to apply the updates first.

Thanks for any information.

I experimented with xpsp2:

- setup to download and prompt to install
- a bunch of updates were created in softwaredistribution\download
- changed update to prompt to download updates
- deleted all folders under softwaredistribution (except eventcache)
- restarted

Next time up, I was prompted for all the updates as I'd hoped.

Just passing it along.
