If having Update problems try this

As always, each month many of us have problems with the monthly updates from
Microsoft on the Windows Update site or the Microsoft Update site. Generally
I have found it easier to go to the Update CATALOG (
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...en/default.asp ) and get the
monthly updates there. Do them ONE at a time, and even download FIRST to a
folder I save them in and THEN from there install/run them. This seems to
work for me. Using Win XP home, SP2
