what if

what if you have an sus server set up and have clients set to download from
it, and then the server is unavailable for some reason or another? do the
clients just leave well enough alone or do they fallback to the microsft
update site? If they fallback to microsoft that would be bad because you
would lose control over what is installed so i would assume that is not the
case, but would that be a good assumption?

No, the clients would not fall back to Microsoft's Windows
Updates site.
