Can you change the code for 'stop global warming' (which is currently *help)
to another word -- some people are seeing only the code (and not the
emoticon) which is leading others to believe I need help...

Hi barold,

The reason that others are seeing just help is because they are using an
older version of Windows Live Messenger or they are using a old operating
system, like Windows 98 SE or Windows ME, which can''t run Windows Live
Messenger.

Yeah, I signed into MSN Messenger 7 earlier today to check something and noticed how odd it
was too.

The whole initiative has the indirect effect of getting people to upgrade their clients...
