I, too, tried to install (KB934238) and was given the same error code. As,
apparently, have a very large number of users. Perhaps someone from
the Microsoft world will see these and look for a problem on their end.

I wish Auto Update would somehow tell you that a download or install failed
before it logs all those lines in the winlog file. I just checked Win Update
and saw that it attempted to install KB934238 every day and even multiple
times a day for the last 3 weeks but failed with the error code 0x80242006.
And I don't even have the Auto Update set to install, just download (now
changed to not even download, just notify me). PA Bear, it IS listed as a
Critical Update so it is in Automatic Updates. I have hidden it, but I think
since it is "critical", it may come back. IE7 came back (twice!) after being
hidden and it is not critical.

Can't Microsoft pull this update when it knows the system is in English???
They know everything else about our systems, they should know what language
it uses. I don't get updates for Win 2000 since I have XP so it should be
easy for them to do.

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

Support for Windows Update:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB123456).

If your problem relates to a Cumulative Security Update for IE, call the
above number and ask to be transferred to the Consumer IE7 queue (which is
47830).

For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary
for security update support issues, visit the International Support Web
site: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

For enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through
your usual support contacts.

Tip: Temporarily disable real-time protection by your anti-virus and/or
anti-spyware applications (e.g., CounterSpy, Spysweeper, Spybot, AVG
Anti-Spyware) and/or any third-party firewall (e.g., ZA) before attempting
to install the update(s).
