Hi,

After the Microsoft Windows XP February updates (security & optional) my
Creative WebCam Notebook and the Imaging Function of my HP PSC 1510
All-in-One ceased to be recognized and ceased functioning... Efforts to
reinstall the Software and drivers produce the Error: “Windows was unable to
load the Installer for Image. Contact the device Manufacturer”. The Install
nevertheless completes but the functions remain unrecognizable. I do not know
which specific MS update did that to my System (Windows XP Home Edition). A
new Windows Imaging Component (WIC) has also been installed on my computer,
which (it says) cannot be removed. I have no restore point available...
Restore function was turned off... As I said, the Manufacturers of the above
equipment are very helpful but cannot (do not know how to) help me... Any
ideas?

Hi there,

Taking any drives from windows update is a bad idea, always take drivers
from the manufacturer website, that is if your hardware is not functioning
properly!

It is better to leave system restore turned on as you might have
excperienced by now.

You can repair your windows installation, aal your files wil stay intact
except for all windows updates you have installed so this should solve your
problem, however you will have to get all the updates again..

Boot from your windows cd and run setup just continue till after the F8 to
accept the licence and a second repair option should be shown choose that
option and repair will be made.

Best regards,
Michel Denie

Thanks for your input.

The drivers are the manufacturer's. Yes you are right about the Restore
function... I learnt my lesson... It is now turned on... The original
authentic Windows CD is no longer recognized as I have downloaded & installed
SP2 and this CD cannot be used any longer... This was a big surprise to me...
So goodbye to repair... I really do not know how to repair my system...

Greetings...

You are welcome,

The original cd sp1 will only work if you can remove sp2 under add/remove
programs ( show updates) , if you can not boot normally try safe mode and
than remove SP2 reboot and try as suggested.

Good luck.
