IMAP Deleted and Sent items

There have been several posts over the past six months or so expressing
frustration about how WLM handles IMAP accounts and in particular Sent or
Deleted items. (The WLM Help screens are so scant they are a standing joke; I
gather it is commonplace for users in trouble to search for the nearest
equivalent feature in Outlook Express which does have more useful Help).

There appear to be two still-unresolved issues:

- why selecting ‘Use the deleted item folder for IMAP accounts’ (in Tools /
Options / Advanced) results instead in deleted messages simply vanishing even
when neither of the related options (in Tools / Options / Advanced /
Maintenance) – ‘Empty messages from the Deleted items folder on exit’ and
‘Purge deleted messages when leaving IMAP folders’ are checked.
Note that the ‘Show deleted messages’ option in View / Show or hide is not
available when ‘Use the deleted item folder for IMAP accounts is specified’
so it would be reasonable to expect that deleted messages in the deleted item
folder would be displayed or there would be no point in having a Deleted item
folder at all!

- why sent mail is stored in the Sent Items storage folder even when the
‘Store special folders on IMAP server’ is checked (and the paths appear to be
set correctly with e.g. the Sent Items path box being set to a suitable
corresponding IMAP folder name).

Any comments or updates pls?

I have the same problem, I'm using WLMD for my one IMAP account I have no
interest in local storage folders, I just want to use this client rather than
the webmail (Crap) that my ISP provides. I want the IMAP folders on WLMD to
refect the mail server. Unfortunately when I send an email it does not show
up in the Sent IMAP folder and when I delete an email it does not show up in
the Trash folder????

Under IMAP folders I have set the Root Folder path to Inbox (as per my mail
server)

I have set the path for Sent Items (Sent), Draft (Drafts), Deleted Items
(Trash) and Junk (Spam) all as per my mail server. BUT when I SEND or DELETE
the action in recorded in the appropriate IMAP folder
