Impacts of not signing a binary

What are the impacts of running an application that is not signed? Will the
user get a warning message when they launch the application? If they get a
warning message will this message appear every time they launch the
application?

Run Visual Studio and create an application and run it and see what happens.
Does a warning message come up?
Do you have a copy of Vista to try this on?
I have never seen any warning message about an unsigned application.
I have run many applications and I don't think all of them are signed.
I know that some warning about unsigned drivers will show up on 64 bit
versions of Vista.
