How to import new picutes ONLY with vista

Hi,
When I first started using Vista (autoplay feature), the system would
import only the new pictures on my camera after I connected the camera
via USB. Now, however, windows wants to import the whole memory card
every time, it is not recognizing files previously imported. I know I
can just drag the files one by one in My Computer, but I would like it
to work properly again. Any ideas? Thanks,
A Smyth

Yes, in fact one of the features of Vista is that it is supposed t
recognize picture and video files already imported, I have checked thei
help menus a hundred times to confirm this. This is also why vist
doens't allow you to pick and choose your picture files when you attac
your camera via USB. I would rather not delete my entire memory card o
each import because I use the camera to play slide shows/video on m
television, especially during family visits. This is why I hope t
restore my Vista to its proper function

A silly work around would be instead of importing. Open Windows explorer and
view the memory card as a "disk" and then drag only the images that you
want.

I suggest that you use a separage memory card to contain only those that you
wish to show on television.

I always import them all and then format the memory card using the camera's
function. I fill a 4GB card in a few hours of shooting. Memory cards should
be formatted frequently.

Best guess from here is that you need to:

1) always plug the camera into the same USB port.
2) assign it a permanent drive letter in Disk Management.

Doesn't your camera come with software to import pictures? My Canon
certainly does and the software works well.
