WLM can not import anything from Outlook.
If you are planning on using a Live ID to signon to Windows Live when using WLM
- Close WLM
- Import your Outlook address book to a *.csv file then logon at contacts.live.com, select Manage/Import/<select Outlook
Csv>/Browse
*** If the Outlook Address book is large, it may take awhile...do not interrupt the process, wait for it too complete, check
your contacts and then logoff.
- Open WLM and signon with that same Live ID. WLM will start to sync with the web server
*** Once again, do not interrupt the process it may take a while...once complete, Click on the Contact shortcut in WLM and
verify your contacts.
- Once complete, to access the contacts imported to a Live ID, the Live ID must be used to sign on to Windows Live in WLM
If you are not planning on using a Live ID to sign on to Windows Live in WLM(see Bob's post)
- Note: The WLM import function is limited and can only import and map a select quantity of fields, unlike the web interface
for a Live ID which is more capable and robust than WLM's import/export engine.
- Not signing on will not sync with the web UI and WLM will operate in the Default account(only local storage)
