Importing Contacts - Invalid Instant Messaging Address

Scenario:
Our company is converting from SIP to .NET network. I export my SIP
contacts to a .ctt file and change the service name in the XML file to ".NET
Messenger Service". I import the .ctt file into the Live Messenger client
successfully.

Result:
Some contacts have not yet created a Live Id account using the email address
specified in the .ctt file. In Live Messenger, a message is displayed in the
"Edit Contact" screen: "The contact could not be sent to the server because
the instant messaging address is invalid."

Problem:
After the Live Id account is created, my contact list still shows this error
message.

Question: Will the address on my contact list every be "refreshed" or
"revalidated" by Live Messenger? Am I required to remove all contacts in
error and manually add them after the Live Id account is created?

Thanks for the support.
Jeff

You should be able to re-import the CTT periodically.

Duplicates will not be re-added, so it will only add the accounts that were
initially invalid.

So you shouldn't have to manually add each one - but you might want to
import the CTT file after more people have had time to create accounts.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't clear on something important.

During the initial import, all accounts are added to my list - even those
accounts that do not exist. Subsequent imports are useless because all the
accounts are already in my list.

The result is that i have a number of accounts in my list that do not exist.
When the account gets created, these items (already in my list) don't seem
to get revalidated, so they still display the "invalid address" message. The
only option I've found is to individually delete and re-add the contact once
I know that the account has been created.

If there is any better solution, I'd really like to hear it.

Thank you.
