Importing .dbx Files to Windows Live Mail

At present I have all my old emails (in.dbx format, from OE6 on an XP
machine) now in a folder on my new Windows 7 drive. Is there a means to
import this folder (included messages & attachments) to my new inbox? Seems
there`s a .eml import function, but no info on .dbx. Any solution, or
work-around to this little problem be greatly appreciated.

Thx
Ron

The links have nothing to do with Dave's response. They are part of
his standard sig. Follow his written (included) instructions.

What's really bad is that I'm getting an error message saying that there are
no files or something is using it. Meanwhile the dbx file is sitting right
there on my desktop. Any suggestions?

You say "dbx FILE" - does that mean you are trying to import only ONE file,
and that you have only ONE dbx file sitting on your desktop? If that's the
case then the reason you are getting the message that there are no files is
because WLM looks for the file called Folders.dbx in order to ascertain that
it is indeed an OE message store. If you have access to the OE message
store, copy the file called Folders.dbx as well and see if that helps.

Dave,
Your advice works well for emails. But what about the address book?

Export contacts to a CSV file, then import from that file . . . .

In OE, the contacts are stored in a .wab file.
Copy the .wab file to your computer if you are using Vista or Win 7
in WLM, click on Contacts
then click on File - Import - Windows address book (.wab)
