Hi everyone

I'm trying to import a ms database to my Hp5555 , I can browse and locate
the file on my pc, activesync asks what tables I would like to import (only
one) and then fails with error message " A synchronization partnership
cannot be created because the source database name is to long ".

Any ideas ?

Hi Joe,

I have noticed this error message when the database name exceeds 17
characters (excluding the .mdb extension) on a computer having limited
rights. However, if you have admin rights ActiveSync seems to support the
database name character upto 25. Whats the size of your database name ?

I've also seen this, but have seen it with even fewer characters than Raj. I
even believed it was due to the entire file name, i.e
\\mypc\\mydocs\myDB.mdb.

When it happens, I copy the .mdb into the root of the drive, and give it a
short name. I set up the sync just as you started. That typically works. I
then right click properties in ActiveSync for Pocket Access. That brings up
a screen that shows the syncs set up. I select the one I just made, and
click properties. That shows the paths to the desktop and PPC DBs. I just
replace the desktop path with the path to the original DB. close everything
and right click Pocket Access, sync selection, and it has always worked. I
finally delete the temporary copy from the root. Silly, but it works for
me.
