Importing Shared folder

I've had a total system failure, and built a new machine, got back all my
emails and favourites for outlook and internet explorer but can't get back
the contents of the shared folder. I can see it on the old hard drive, but it
claims the folder is empty, even though it reports a size of 22.2mb. My
friend also replaced her computer so I can't synchonize with her, any
suggestions?
