Impossible intallation of KB 917021 (or KB 893357)

Hello, I'm having this problem on my notebook (XP home SP2): I can't install
KB917021 (or previous KB893357) and I run into this error message
that says "unable to migrate dependent packages". I need this update to
enable WPA2.

It seems that it can't install this update due to lack of KB 925454. I tried
to install it, but it was impossible due to "IE version is not correct ..."
I'm using IE 7 and in KB 925454log you can see:

Now what should i do? Uninstall IE 7 to install KB 925454 and then KB 917021?
I tried to uninstall IE 7 but i got a "terrific" message saying a lot of
programs/updates may not work correctly after uninstallation.
Could you help me, please?

Note that other users having this code, reported externally as 0x8007F0EA,
somehow found a solution by renaming the above file (xpsp3res.dll).
No explanation was given why that was done or what it accomplished.
The only thing about it that I would say is that it would obviously change
the above log messages if nothing else.

So far results seem to have been mixed regarding this approach.
Personally I would prefer to see better diagnostics so I could have have
a better idea of whether it would work on all the various updates that
it has been tried with. In particular, since we have never seen a log
from an incident made *after* the proposed resolution we don't even
have a good idea of what it accomplishes even when it does work.

The next log shows that McAfee is somehow involved?
So, is McAfee active when you try and do this install?
Perhaps it would be better to disable or remove it first?
Also, since the log is talking about migrating dependent updates
perhaps an effective alternate approach would be uninstalling
the "dependent updates", installing the ones which would otherwise
try the "migration" and then see what would get offered as an update
after that (e.g. perhaps an updated version of one you uninstalled
would be easier to apply than "migrate"? Etc.)

BTW in the event that one of the updates you want to uninstall was done
earlier than some other updates you don't want to uninstall you may get
a warning about that. AFAIK this is just an indication that there is no
dependency information available about the updates so they are just
warning you in case you want to check manually to see if there really
is a dependency or not. Obviously uninstalling each previous update
back to the one you really want to remove would also avoid that problem.

Also, the last time I was involved with an incident about this code
I asked if the "migration" referred to an update from 32-bit code
to 64-bit code. I think that that information would still be relevant.

Thank you Robert, the problem was solved renaming xpsp3res.dll. Installation
of KB 917021 went correctly.
I forgot to write it before, but I tried to install it disabling (not
uninstalling) McAfee, but without success.
Update from 32 to 64-bit is not applicable.
