Impossible to restore

Greetings to you all, from (old) Europe !
When I try to restore a previous point, I got this (approximate message,
since translated back from French to English, using my broken English; but I
am sure that you will see the point...) "An unspecified error occurred
during the restoration of the system. Try to re-execute the restoration of
the system by choosing another restore point"
Can someone help?

Your restore point is broken try with some restore point from earlier
time.
