Any ideas why Live Mail 2009 would suddenly delete all the
inbox emails for the last two days? Only activity was to close
WLM and re-open a few minutes later. And no, they are not
in the deleted items folder.

Thanks,

Bill

On the Menu Bar: View | Show or Hide. Is Show All Messages checked?

Hi Bruce,

"Show All Messages" is selected.

There were "conversations" beginning yesterday (8/12)
with additions to those "conversations" today (8/13) and
more "conversations" beginning today with a number of
emails coming in. There were also a few "singles" today
and, like I posted initially, everything for 8/12 and 8/13
simply disappeared following a closing and subsequent
re-opening of WLM.

And if you uncheck View By Conversation? Have to wait for another idea if
not that. I gave up on Wal-Mail some time ago.

"View By Conversation" had no affect on my current
problem.

What I really want to do is migrate to Outlook, but keep WLM
for purposes of reading Newsgroups. The migration to
Outlook "should" be simple, but so far every time I
attempt it, I get major duplications of the mail that was
in WLM.

The Export from WLM DOES NOT give the option of exporting
to Outlook. When I exchange to "Exchange", there's no import
in Outlook that makes reference to "Exchange".

Do you have a scenario that makes sense?

Bill

Would this be a POP3 account, and IMAP account, or an HTTPMail (Hotmail)
account?

Sorry, Bill. I have no solution, but I am sure you will get one here. I
have never used Outlook and I only tries WLMail for a few weeks before I
had enough. It isn't worth using for mail and is worse for news, IMO.

Hang in there, Someone will be around to help sooner or later. Needless to
say the groups are not quite so busy by either posters or responders since
MS went to the new forums. They are a PITA in many ways, but a lot of
people there to respond.

Hi, Bill.

I'm using WLM 2011, but I don't think this behavior has changed: (I use
only POP3, so I don't know if the behavior is different for Hotmail or MAPI
or others.)

Some of my messages seem to disappear sometimes, too. Usually I find them
in one of two places:

1. In my Inbox for that mail provider. After I've read them in Quick
view's Unread mail, they no longer are "Unread", so they disappear from that
Quick view. But they are still in the Inbox and I can see them by choosing
All messages, as Bruce suggested.

2. In one of my Storage Folders, where they were moved by one of my Mail
Rules. Sometimes I fool myself by having multiple Storage Folders with
similar names showing up in unexpected places in my folder tree, but if I
think real hard I usually can find where I've put them with my rules.

What do you use for email, presumably on Win 7? I'm not
necessarily a big fan of Outlook. It has way more function
than I need and has some strange security restrictions.
