Device sync'd properly for a while, but now it looks like the message store
on the handheld has corrupted. Sync attempts always end with 3 unresolved
Inbox items, which are not identified in the logs. I get 3 sets of the
following in WCESMGR.LOG:

There are no corresponding entries in OUTSTORE.LOG to indicate which
messages are failing, and far more than 3 messages are failing to copy to
Outlook on the PC. I isolated the messages that are stranded on the
handheld by moving everything in the PC's Outlook Inbox to an unsynchronized
subfolder, and that initially left 36 messages stuck on the handheld. The
user got that down to 8 by deleting stuff he didn't need off the handheld,
but the remainder still won't sync and I'm sure that number is going to rise
as he continues to use the handheld to receive mail.
I've run ScanPST on the PC and tinkered with all the ActiveSync Inbox
synchronization options but nothing has an effect. I figure I'm probably
going to have to flatline the handheld, but the user would really like to
preserve the messages that are stranded there.
Are there any repair procedures you can run on the handheld message store?
Is there a way to export the stuck handheld Inbox items over to the PC prior
to doing a hard reset? I ran a backup successfully, but I'm worried about
potentially getting burned by a hard reset / restore if the message store
corruption is contained in the backup. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks.
