Incoming mail sound's volume too low

I'm using Windows Live Mail on Windows 7.

Since years I use an own wav file as sound
for incoming mails. It is a normal wav file
(the AOL "Sie haben Post" sound).

But on Windows 7 the sound is extremely
silent although the volume slider is at
50% equal to the global system volume
slider.

First I thought it is just not played but
it is played extremely silent.

This must be a bug! I did a web search
on this and seems like many people
don't hear the sound!

Please can you investigate and fis
this problem? Thank you!

Best regards!

Schnulla,
This is a peer to peer user forum of folks like yourself using Windows Live Mail on XP, Vista, and Win7. It is not a direct link
to Windows Live Mail support.

WLM uses Windows features and your sound card to play the wave file. You might try to play your wave file in Windows 7 independent
from a new mail notification in WLM and test other wave files to determine if your issue with wave files is Win7 or Sound card
related

Hi winston,

the file plays fine independent of WLM.
It is only silent in WLM.

Testing WLM14x on Win7, all attempted wave files play normally at this end stand-alone on message arrival in all these scenarios
pop3 to pop3
pop3 to http
http to http
http to pop3

In fact it played so loud, I jumped.

Fyi....Is WLM configured to 'Play a sound when new messages arrive '?
- Mine is(was, I'll pass on the sound after testing)... beyond the above, sorry no other suggestions.

Maybe the sound file only plays when I receive
an email from an email account which is not
one of my own IMAP accounts in WLM.

Because when I send an email from one of
my IMAP accounts to another IMAP account
no sound file is played (maybe in this case
the email is just copied into the INBOX
locally and not fetched from server).

But when I send an email from the GMX website
to the same IMAP account I can hear the sound.

Ok, so is the sound too low or are you not hearing it? I believe I am
getting some issue where I'm just not hearing the New Mail sound.

Man it is really weird... I remember the last days
it was sometimes extremely silent. But I cannot
reproduce it anymore.

I can only reproduce that it is not played at all
when I send an email from one IMAP account
to another IMAP account.

But that is maybe not a bug because in this
case the mail is just copied locally directly
into the other IMAP INBOX folder without
fetching anything from server.

Yeah, I take it that the New Mail sound is triggered by some event and that
event is not being triggered in the IMAP to IMAP.

Sorry I do not have any accounts setup for IMAP.
When enabled, the sound volume of the new email notification is the same for me on all systems with WLM for pop3 and
http(DeltaSync) receipts.
