Increased Memory Usage Since Update

I've been experiencing several challenges with my computer, it seems since
the updates of August 12, 2005, maybe even before that with SP2.

My wireless mouse has been behaving erratically, dragging and sticking on
the screen. My processes under Task Manager have several tasks that have
increased memory usage compared to before the updates (explorer.exe,
svshost.exe and ccapp.exe primarily). This may account for my mouse dragging,
but I have 2GB of ram and this is occuring when I have one, or no, programs
running. I changed the batteries in the mouse too.

Additionally, I had issues upon rebooting with Norton. My system claimed it
had been disabled, but when checking it was still on auto-protect. I've ran
virus checks from my computer as well as from Symantec's web page, adaware,
spybot, Hi-jack, Microsoft Malicious softeware removal, etc.... All coming up
negative.

I have a Dell Dimension 8300 Pentium 4, 3.40GHz, 3.39 GHZ, 2.00 GB Ram, two
hard drives 100 GB and 200 GB, running Windows XP Pro 2002 with SP2.

Has anyone else experienced any of these issues? Or does anyone have a clue
as to the memory usage problem?

I seem to be having the same prob. I thought i may have a virus but all my
virus/add/spyware scans came up negative... mouse is dragging all over screen
and loadtimes are taking 10X as long. That lil dot that goes across the
bootscreen in windows XP will go across 50-60X before windows even gets to
the log on. And it hangs for a min on a black screen before itll even get to
the logon, its horrible.

There seemed to be no explanation of why this was happening, ive had to do a
system restore twice. That seems to fix it... thats when i noticed ive had to
d/l the 6 windows updates all over again. Still havnt d/led them and my
system is still working fine.

My system is,
P4 520
1GB Ram DDR2 533
120GB 7200RPM HDD
12GB Maxtor HDD
