Click PROPERTIES|NOTIFICATION AREA tab

Down in the systray where the balloons stay tucked away, there are two
very annoying ones I would like to turn off totally. These two have
black/grey bodies with a blue " i " and the heading of "information".

There is a procedure to turn off ALL balloons. Is there a known
procedure to turn off just these types of ballons in vista home
premium?

Have you done a thorough check for malware?

If you boot into Safe Mode does the "active area has changed" message
persist?

Please top-post your replies to me.

If you boot into Safe Mode does the "active area has changed" message
persist?

Have you done a thorough check for malware?

Thanks for the clue. For my problem, did not solve.
However, did turn off one thing I never wanted on.
Maybe two.

Like why do I need to be alerted to these miniscule details to begin
with?

Bob this is definitely not malware.
I was just thinking that perhaps maybe this is something that Hewlett
Packard has included in their software for the wifi. As these two
balloons only appear in connection with the wifi system.

So maybe I'll contact HP and see if they know anything.
