Was the Information Bar disabled ? Open Internet Options in the Control
Panel. Click the Privacy tab.
Under Pop-up Blocker, click the Settings tab.
Make sure that 'Show Information Bar when a pop-up is blocked' is selected.
If it already is, suggest you manually download the latest release of
the Windows Update Agent (WUA) and *save* it:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/wi...gent30-x86.exe
Clicking the above link will start the download.
*Save* windowsupdateagent30-x86.exe
Once the download completes close all open programs and browsers.
*Right* click My Computer either on the Desktop or Start Menu and choose
Manage.
Click the plus sign next to Service and Applications.
Click on Services.
In the right frame, Stop the Automatic Updates service.
If Background Intelligent Transfer service has started, Stop that, too.
Close Computer Management.
Now run windowsupdateagent30-x86.exe.
When it's finished, restart the system.
Did that get the WUA along with the ActiveX object installed ?
