I cannot get my device to sync with outlook 2000. I get
this error message when I try to resolve the items.

"Items of one or more information types cannot be
synchronized."

I have tried all three solutions in the knowledge base as
well as uninstalling active sync and Outlook and then
reloading. I also hard reset my PPC. Nothing seems to help.

Any solutions?

Thanks in advance

JJ

Hi JJ,

Did you try to identify which information type is causing the problem ??
Select only one Information type in ActiveSync on the desktop
(Tools->Options) and then sync after every selection. This will help narrow
down the possible cause. Could you provide the knowledge base article you
referred.

Hi Raj,

Thanks for replying

the article is 259361. It refers to exactly the error that
I am receiving.

The items that are not synching are all from outlook 2000.
Calendar, Contacts, Notes etc. Even If I try each of them
together or individually they still will not sync with the
same message when I resolve.

Thanks for your help,

JJ

Hi JJ,

Try running Detect & Repair feature available under the Help menu in Outlook
to scan the pst file. Additionally, you can also try running the Scanpst
utility to check for any corruption in the PST file. Search for scanpst.exe
on your computer. Usually the location of the fileare as follows:

* Windows XP, NT and 2000:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\NT\scanpst.exe

* Windows 95, 98, and Me:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\95\scanpst.exe

Note: C: might need to be replaced with appropriate drive letter.

You will need to run it against the .pst file. Usually the name is
Outlook.pst. If you are unable to locate the path of the .pst file, do the
following:

1. Open Outlook.
2. Click File -> Data File Management
3. This should list all the PST files that are present. Click Open Folder
and you should find the storage path of your *.pst file.

Run the scanpst.exe file on the *.pst file and then connect the PPC and
attempt to synchronize.

Already did all of that. But thanks for the suggestion. I
just decided to do a complete reinstall on my whole
system. That seems to be the only way to fix whatever is
causing this. No one seems to have an answer or have seen
that particular error before. Thanks again for the help
