Inhibit Windows Live Messenger

I have just obtained a laptop with Windows 7,
which includes Windows Live Messenger.
I don't require WLM, but every time I boot up,
I'm asked for my WLM password.
How can I stop this - ideally I would like to stop
WLM loading at start-up, but don't want to effect the functionality
of Windows Live Mail which I do use.
Advice would be appreciated.

Look under Options or Preferences and see if there is a button or selection
to 'Start when Windows starts' and uncheck it.

Hi Jerry
Thanks for the input.
In the event, I found MSCONFIG and inhibited it there successfully.

Hi,

The problem with just doing it in msconfig (in Windows 7, in XP it won't even disable it at
all) which just disables it in the registry, is that if anything else starts Messenger (say
if you go to Hotmail within Internet Explorer or accidently click the shortcut), it'll just
re-add itself and you'll have to disable it in msconfig again.
