I am looking for any suggestions regarding a problem I am having trying to
unzip and load a program on my new Vista based laptop (Vista Business
edition). I have used this software for several years and it always
installed on my old Windows OS (98, ME and XP) without any glitches. Now
when I try to unzip it and install on my Vista system I get the following
errr messages:

"Error reading ini file - c:\program
files\stockanalyzer-GXR\stockanalyzer.ini"

then when I push the "OK" button the next screen is the opening Login screen
for StockAnalyzer software (at this point it appears to have installed
correctly and asks if "I Accept" or "I Decline").

If you choose "I Accept" the next message you get is:

c:\program files\stockanalyzer-GXR\tp.mdb does not exist, so it cant be
copied to c:\program files\stockanalyzer-GXR\data\tp.mdb

Please note this is a "boutique" software that is unsupported but has worked
for me on the previous windows based operating systems. I am a novice at any
tweeking of the operating systems so please try to help me in "lay man" terms.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Create a shortcut to the install file you are running, and rightclick the
shortcut/then 'Properties'/ and set the "Compatibility Mode" drop box to
'Windows XP'

Thanks Mark. Now when I to unzip and install I get the following:

Run-Time error '339':

Component 'MSMAPI32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly
registered: a file is missing or invalid

For some reason the other error I mentioned did not come up when I tried to
install the program - the new one did and I didn't change anything except
windows updates...

Strange. Does the new error (339) make any sense to you?

Try right clicking the install file and select "run as administrator"

Hi Paul and Mark , my last post was incorrect please ignore. My first post
still applies. I tried Mark's suggestion and it did not work. Paul, when I
right click the install file I see tabs for General, Security, Details, and
Previous Versions. When I go into Security I see System, Rick (Rick-PC\Rick)
and Adminsitrators (Rick-PC\Administrators) by the way, my name is Rick. The
preset is System but all of groups are allowed. So I don't know what else
should be done?
