no servive packs installed reloading windows xp over original files. they
are deleted and new ones are copied. I get to the point where xp is
installing devices with 34 minutes remaining for complete installation of
windows xp, it hangs. The reason I reloaded xp in the first place is on a
warm boot I get to the xp logo with running bar underneath and starts to
boot, but after 3 running lines goes across the bar it locked up need to
resolve or going tobuild new system with xp pro. anyone can help write to
address subject as xp hangs on initial load

Jim;
Start here:

Otherwise since this is a Windows Update newsgroup, you should ask this in a
Windows XP newsgroup:

If a Repair Install did not fix the problem, and you are sure that it is not a hardware
problem (e.g. bad RAM), and you unplugged all peripherals when you did the Repair Install,
then sometimes one has to face the fact that the hard drive will have to be formatted, and
a Clean Install might be the only solution. If you can boot into Safe Mode, maybe you can
save some of your data files, if you have not already backed them up.
