The Information Bar relates to WinXP SP2
Description of the Internet Explorer Information Bar in Windows XP SP2
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=843017

"Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page.
As a result, the page may not display."

Try re-registering the following .dll files
Softpub.dll
Wintrust.dll
Initpki.dll
Urlmon.dll

1. Click Start >Run and type
regsvr32 Softpub.dll
Click okay to register it
You should get a dialog box telling you that it was successful.
2. Repeat the process for the other .dll files.
3. Restart your computer and try the update site again.

Add Windows Update to the trusted sites zone:
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. Click Trusted Sites, and then click Sites.
5. Clear the require server verification (https for all sites in this zone
check box.
6. Make sure that the following URLs are listed in the Web Sites box:
http://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
https://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://download.windowsupdate.com

Hi, I tried these updates since I have been having problems with ActiveX and
trying to view my update history. I posted on 4/19 under the name of Dexter
and never heard from anyone. Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks

Thanks for getting back to me. I've been looking at other questions and am
wondering if I need to install the patch 912945 for IE. I did see that
912812 is supposed to resolve issues from 912945, but I backed out of all the
updates since my computer really got messed up.

I may wait and see if the new releases of the updates clear up my problem.

Thanks again.....
