Install does not clear the update queue

Security Update for Microsoft (KB941833) fails continually.

I have tried perhaps 30 times now to install this update. When it completes
it appears to have succeeded. However, when I try to check on new updates
this one is still in the queue and Windows Vista update will not attempt to
find further updates.

I have tried disabling Norton and that does not help. I have tried
uninstalling update KB944533. The uninstall succeeds and reboot and then try
to check for new updates. Windows succeeds and finds two updates to install.
They are installed and the KB941833 update is stuck in the queue again! How
in heaven's name do I get rid of this? and get my system updated properly?

IF there is some kind of HP or other printer 'software' running in the
system tray, then temporarily disable it and the acommpanying Service
from the Services console as it may be locking the msxml4.dll and
preventing it from being replaced.
