After redirecting the "Documents" folder to x:\documents on their local
machiine.
any time I try to install a program I get the following error:

Error Invalid Drive "X:\"

If I redirect the documents path back to the default the installation
works.

Did you reboot after moving the Documents folder? If not - do so. Then try
again to install the program.

If it still doesn't install there is a problem with the way the program is
coded. It should default to the path YOU have chosen, as should all
subsequent program installs. Your program may he hard coded to only store
documents created by the program in the default location. This is a no-no.

And by redirect I certainly hope that you mean that you "moved" the location
in the accepted way - by using the "move" tab in properties of the Documents
Folder.
