Hi Robin,
Thanks for you help.
Here's the trail of events I followed from your post:
Go to the Windows Update site, click on the History link, locate the most
recent failed installation of 905474, and click the red cross.....
** I turned pop-up blockers off and clicked on the most recent red x. No
pop-up with detail, just a pop-up containing only the word "Failed"
Also, please post that section of C:\WINDOWS\WgaNotify.log which relates to
the most recent failed installation.
**Nothing to Post (see note on item #1)
Also, go to
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/ and click "Start
Diagnostic", and follow through with the instructions. If you reach the
other end, click "Windows Validation". After a reboot, does that fix the
problem?
**Yes, this seems to have solved the problem. I followed the instructions
and reached the other end. I now have "Validation"
I did not proceed to the remaining steps.
However, I have printed the step for the diagnostic and I will use that next
time I have a question to post.
THANKS ROBIN !!!!!
**Fran
