On all our client machines, the users are set to restricted users so they
cannot install any programs that are not approved on their computers. This
also means that they cannot install any windows updates on their machines.

I have noticed that if i logon to a clients machine as an administrator i
get propmted to install the windows updates, when the clients log on, they do
not get prompted to install updates.

is there a way around this?? thanks.

Hi,
If the clients are configured via AU Options# 4 then the updates can be
installed using Local System Account silently. If logged as local admin
then the updates will be offered.

Happy Patching,

Hi

AU Option 4 is Automatic Update Option 4.
That means that if you in your group policy configure "Configure Automatic
Updates" and choose option 4, your updates will automatically be downloaded
and scheduled for installation at a time you specify.

ok thanks for that, can you make it so that it does not automatically restart
their computer?

Because if the computer automatically restarts say when a user is away from
their desk and they have open files they will loose their work.
