I had beta 2 insalled on my test box and I cannot seem to get RC1 to install
now. I am using the same key as beta 2. Is that an issue?

I am deleting the partition from the install on RC1 and then choosing
format. Which seems to format the 120 gb WAY too fast.

The install completes after 30 minutes or so and when I log in it says BETA
2, build 5384. OMW!

This is going to sound like a really silly question but when you burned the
ISO did you make sure you had selected your new download or RC1?
I know I almost did this when burning pre-RC1 as Nero defaulted to the
previous download - embarrassing but I always double check now otherwise you
would see the same version. Apologies if this is totally impossible for you
to have done.

I agree format is very quick but my install was fine even though I wondered
how it went so fast plus I am still using the same key I used from beta2 days.

That is funny! But no, I burned the rc1 version. I deleted the old ones. I
have downloaded it twice and burned it 3 times. The last time on the slowest
setting. I will check again to make sure I burned the right ISO file though.

"I am deleting the partition from the install on RC1 and then choosing

I assume you must be recreating a new partition prior to formatting? If you
aren't removing the Beta 2 partition, could the boot loader be aimed at that
and not changing?

I wiped out the partition and the created a new partion. I have changed the
size of the system partition so it would be harder for the beta 2 code to be
found and repaired accidentally by the install. I have sent requests into MS
to ask about my key--I have two and both always install Beta 2. I have
another PC with a removable drive so I think I am going to test it on another
PC with another physical disk.

This is a pain. It is making me question how easy support is going to be
with Vista.
