Install Shield trouble

This is a strange problem. I'm using XP Professional. In my startup taskbar,
I have an icon for Windows Update. I have my updates sete to automatic and
have not had any problems with updates downloading. However, recently when I
click on the updates icon, I get the Install Shield window with all the
buttons and little question marks, but no words whatsoever. I don't know if
I am now getting my updates or not. Is there a way to download a new Install
Shield? Does anyone know what is wrong here? Thanks for your help.

DawnAnne,

Specifically, what is Install Shield trying to install ? It's not an
update from MS as it has nothing to do with the updating process.
Was it preinstalled by the systems manufacturer ? If so, consult that
manufacturer for a resolution.
