I cannot install SP 3 on W XP. It downloads but won't install. I've installed SP 1 & 2. I am logged on as administrator.

On this planet, the most current Service Pack for Windows XP is Service Pack 2. Please contact the Embassy from the Planet or Galaxy that you are from and discuss having Service Pack 3 beamed on one of the subspace channels. Please be aware that since you will be attempting to install software form a future date on the terrestrial version of Windows XP, you may encounter some problems due to the discrepancy in the space time continuum; and you will not be able to get support in this event.

Are you SURE SP3 is for XP? I did not think it was out yet.

Sorry to tell everyone but, YES there is a service pack 3, I have been trying
to install it for the last couple of weeks and it will not install.
Downloaded it just fine but will not install keep getting " Error Code:
0x530". Finding no help. Just want to delete it and go on.

Steve;
You are mistaken, there is no such thing as Service Pack 3 for Windows XP.

However there are less than reputable sites distributing what they call SP-3
for Windows XP.
If that is what you have, it is NOT from or endorsed by Microsoft.

A Service Pack designed for one operating system will not install on a
computer designed for another version of Windows such as Windows
2000/Windows XP.

There is a Service Pack 3 for Office XP, perhaps that is what you have.
You need to determine exactly what you have.
The one thing that is certain is that it is NOT Service Pack 3 for Windows
XP.

I apologize Jupiter Jones!
After futher research I found out the SP3 patch I downloaded and have
tried to install keeps giving me an error showing it is for MS Office Front
Page.
"error 1328 error applying patch to file f:\config.msi\pt1ce.tmp" It tells
me the update has been probably updated by other means and can not be
modified.
Any help?
Again sorry for the too quick and not so full/correct reply.
