It was fantastic to read others have had the same problems as myself, and Im
new to computers. I have tried everything even the free SP1 help from the
tecs, theres even been computer whizzs in my computer looking for a cure or
fix whichever way you want to look at it, guess what they couldnt fix the
problem, now after reading loads of comments from others on
microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=101139 Im so happy that its a common problem.,
my only thought now is how do I stop SP1 from appearing on my automatic
update window as it affects my security after a tune up. ??

"PA Bear", thanks but Ive been there and done that, about 4 times, also had
someone in USA get permission to go into my computer andsee if they could
solve theproblem, that didnt work either, and a lovely technician also try
via email and he closed the case because he couldnt "fix" problem. l

Was I supposed to guess that "free SP1 help from the tecs and "computer
whizzs" meant you availed yourself of the free MS Support?

And did the "lovely tech" suggest a reinstall of Vista? Did you ask the
tech how to avoid being offered SP1 and did the tech say it was OK to do
that?

I'd open another free support incident if I were you, Barb. Ask for a Level
2 tech this time around.
