Install Vista without losing all?

Aloha all.
A year ago I bought Dell desktop with Vista. I wiped the drive and put XP
on. Now I'm ready to re-install the original OS again. However, my system is
chock full of programs and data. I can save all the data, no problem, but I
have hundreds of programs on the system drive. Is there any way to install
Vista without losing everything?
Thanks.
