How to install WMDC 6.0 and not 6.1 (due to support code 0x8503001

Hi everyone,
I have this problem. I can't synchronize due to the fact a support code
appears on my device (HTC Touch). The code is 0x8503001C. I've seen in other
posts that a solution is to revert to WMDC 6.0. The problem is that when i
try to install this version, my laptop installs the 6.1 version, no matter
what I do (delete -regedit- lines, close internet connection, delete folders
with profiles, and so on). It seems like for some reason my laptop has some
sort of "automatic" restoration files. What can I do? I really need some
help! I need to install WMDC 6.0.

Hi,

Couple of things you might want to check. Ensure you uninstall WMDC and
WMDC Driver Update from the Program listing. Additionally you might want to
disable installation of automatic updates (if it is set to on) under Windows
Update which is accessible in the Control Panel or else it will upgrade to
the new version.

I already did what you suggest but the problem persists. I believe Dell -or
Vista- has pre-configured an automatic restoration of files to their latest
version. I need to find where in my laptop is that "restoration" command in
order to stop it. I can't think of anything else. It is amazing I'm having
this difficult in order to install the version I choose and want of a
program. Please help!!!

Are you rebooting after uninstalling WMDC and WMDC Driver Update? I would
also check your Windows Update history and see if you still were installing a
windows mobile update (WMDC 6.1). Where are you installing WMDC 6.0 from?
It is not available online anymore unless you saved an old copy of the
install.

As for your error code, have you tried deleting your partnership and
recreating it? Also, if you installed a Vista SP1 beta, make sure you are on
the latest one. WMDC has encountered problems with previous SP1 betas.
